Specialist Diagnostics: A Detailed Look at Your Baby's Development
The differentiated ultrasound examination in the second trimester represents a detailed diagnostic method that goes beyond the requirements of maternal health guidelines. Its implementation requires highly specialised technical equipment as well as extensive professional expertise (DEGUM II certification). The average duration of the examination is about 30 minutes, but varies depending on factors such as the fetal position and maternal conditions, such as the condition of the abdominal wall.
Content of the examination is the detailed assessment of the development of individual organs. Additionally, growth and developmental disorders may be detected. The best time for this examination is the 20th-22nd week. However, it can also be performed at any other time during the pregnancy. Reasons for conducting a specialist diagnostic examination may include abnormalities in the ultrasound as part of maternity care, familial or personal pre-existing conditions, as well as medication use during pregnancy.
