Fetal Echocardiography: Detailed Heart Examination in Prenatal Diagnostics
In fetal echocardiography, the fetal heart and the nearby blood vessels are examined and assessed in detail. This examination is typically part of the fine diagnostics, but it can also be performed at any other time during the pregnancy.
Using specialised ultrasound techniques, such as methods of Doppler ultrasound and 3D techniques (STIC), congenital heart defects can be diagnosed. For this examination, specialised training and extensive experience of the performing doctors are essential, complemented by the use of state-of-the-art ultrasound devices.
This significantly contributes to the safety of expectant parents by quickly identifying any irregularities and initiating appropriate measures.
